hi guys! my name is kc, and welcome to my blog. i’m 24, use she/they pronouns, and have been on tumblr for too long. this is my blog for my original character, rain mars. she’s changed many times over the years, but is based on original lore influenced by various media. i just ask that you read her info!.RULE TWO.
i’m entirely multiship and multiverse. rain doesn’t have a specific fandom, and so i’m happy to interact with canons and ocs. i love making aus and such, so, yeah!as far as shipping goes, i’m open to it? but it’s not my main goal. chemistry only, don’t forceship. i don’t write smut because i’m awkward, but totally happy to discuss nsfw stuff/plot it out. also happy to write the lead up or the after. adult themes are totally cool 🫶RULE THREE.

ARC ONEa:aaLAB RATa
TONIGHT: The murder of a young family, and their missing daughter. John and Mary Mars were found dead in their family home, and according to their son, the attackers also took their baby daughter. At this point, the police have no leads on what might have happened...She’d been stuck in the building for years. All she knew was white walls, the scientists that escorted her from one test to another, then to lunch, then to training, and then, back to her room. Ever since she was a young child, it was everything she had even known. To her, it was normal.There were other kids there too. Other kids who were special like her, created, not by nature, but by the laboratory, to be something greater
than humans. The tests were to make sure that they were functioning properly. The training was to make sure that once they were out of this lab, they would survive.It wasn’t safe outside of the lab, they would always tell the girl. The real world would be cruel to them. That was why they were forced to fight, forced to hurt, forced to become stronger and stronger and stronger.Eventually, for her, it became something she enjoyed. She wasn’t very big, but her powers were strong. She could create fire, leave the other kids with burns, leave them scared. It was a powerful feeling to have control of the room, and she learned that at a young age. And so she never wanted to leave.
ARC TWOa:aaA NEW WORLDa
ACE Labratories: a company once known for many different scientific breakthroughs around human biology has now been the subject of much public scrutiny after an apparent police raid late last night. While many online theories have popped up over the morning on what may have happened, police simply say it was a routine search. ACE has not yet released a statement, but inside information tells us that many investors have started to pull their money out of the private lab. More on this later tonight.The police raid comes at age fourteen. They’re woken up by the sound of an alarm, and while some kids manage to escape, she’s not so lucky. They drag her kicking and screaming, flames and all, out of that lab and into a car. They’re lucky the whole thing doesn’t explode. They’re lucky she doesn’t kill them.She tried.She’s placed in a room. Cement walls, a couple of chairs and a table, and a window. They used to do tests on her in rooms like these, only instead of a table, there was a chair for her. There were medical supplies, plenty of water just in case.This was not that.It was questions. So many that she couldn’t think. They asked her about ACE, and about what
they were doing, and about her family, and about what she could remember, and so many things. She stayed there in that chair, didn’t open her mouth, didn’t do anything. They’d always warned her that if something like this were to happen, she was to keep her mouth shut. And so she did.And she waited.Even as they introduced her to her ‘aunt’ and ‘brother’, she waited for the day when those from the lab would come to get her. She refused to be a part of the family. She ignored them when they tried to call her by the name Rain, because as far as she was concerned, she didn’t have one. She wasn’t one of them. She was something more.It’s not long before she’s enrolled in school. It’s a legal requirement, apparently, and she’s given no choice. She doesn’t belong. She can’t get it out of her head. She’s not supposed to be learning about history, she’s supposed to be fighting. She’s supposed to be preparing for something more.She gets in a couple of fights at school, gets herself detention and then suspension and then kicked out. She claims they’re all justified, but her aunt doesn’t want to hear it.So they move again. A new town. A fresh start.Still, the lab hasn’t come back for her.
ARC THREEa:aaTHE FALLa
A building on Ames Street was found burned to the ground. One man, a twenty year old, was found dead at the scene. Officers are not yet aware of how the fire started, but...At eighteen years old, her life is okay.She’s balancing things okay. Most of her time is spent between various forms of counseling and school, aunt watching like a hawk to make sure she stays out of trouble. It's difficult, and it doesn't feel right, but sometimes, she's normal.Then, finally, after waiting for years, ACE comes back.They find her one day after school. They tell her that they’re opening a new laboratory, that she
can come back with them where she belongs.
She’s been waiting years for this.But she tells them to fuck off.Somewhere along the way, she’d started to like her family. She’d started to believe that maybe ACE had been the ones lying to her all along. She’d started a life, and she wanted to live it without them.Of course it’s not that simple.They decide to show up at the house one night, decide to try and drag her back because she belonged to them. It turns into a big fight, which turns into a big fire.Rain is able to get herself out, able to get her aunt out, but her brother?He doesn’t make it.
ARC FOURa:aaAFTERa
After the death of her brother, she shuts down. She stops talking to her aunt, who blames her. There’s silence.ACE had taken everything away anyways.The funeral is held, the fire is written off as a wiring error, and things are forgotten. Life goes back to normal for everyone else, but not for her. Not for her aunt.Eventually, Rain leaves. She doesn't finish high school, doesn't even think about it.
She doesn't tell her aunt, doesn’t tell her friends, doesn’t tell anyone. She just decides to leave.She finds a job at a small cafe, where she can play her brother's guitar during open mic nights. She lives at an apartment that she can just barely afford. Eventually, people begin to recognize her, and her music, but for the most part? She's no one.It’s just easier that way.It’s safer.

SKILL SETS: Rain Mars is trained in combat, and has been trained in such since she was a young child. On top of this, she’s very skilled in using her abilities. She also has a good amount of survival skills, taught to her by ACE. Since getting out, she’s learned some other, more normal skillsets, but the first three are the most natural to her.

PYROKINESIS: This is basically the control of flames. Rain is limited to controlling fire that she creates, and fire that she creates appears to almost rise from her skin. She can create fire on any part of her body, though, the majority of flames are created with her hands. She’s very skilled with her powers, and has very good control over them.FIREPROOF: Due to the development of her abilities, Rain is unable to be harmed by any kind of fire, and can stand any amount of high temperatures.WARMER TEMPERATURE: Due to her abilities, Rain always runs at a much higher temperature than the average person. When her abilities are under control, she feels like she’s running a fever. When they are out of control, or when she plans on using her abilities, her skin will heat up, and even just touching her skin is enough to burn.SLIGHT SUPERHUMAN HEALING: Rain heals a lot faster than a normal human when given the time to rest. So during a fight she won’t heal any faster than normal, but afterwards she heals quicker, especially after sleeping.SLIGHT SUPERHUMAN RESISTANCE: Rain can take more of a hit than a normal human can. This doesn’t mean she won’t be injured, but rather, that her injuries might be less severe.

RAIN IS COVERED IN SCARS FROM HEAD TO TOE. Some of these are from when her powers were developing, others are from the various trials and tests she went through at the lab, and some are from the fights she got in after. The majority of these cover her arms, chest, and legs, though, there are a couple of small scars on her face. Sometimes these are covered with makeup, though, sometimes they can be seen.SHE HAS A TATTOO FROM HER DAYS AT ACE. Every ACE kid got one. It’s a simple ACE logo placed on her right hip. She has plans to get it removed, but still hasn’t been able to go through with it.THESE DAYS, most of what she wears consists of sweaters and clothes that cover most of her skin. She’s never been comfortable showing off her body, and the scars don’t really help. She wears soft colors, and spends quite a bit of time on her hair and her makeup.

RAIN MARS: The muse of this blog. At a young age she was kidnapped and taken from her parents, and used for abilities by ACE laboratories. After a short period of time where she tries to live as a vigilante, the death of her brother leaves her lost. She decides to move towns, and start over, creating an entirely new personality for herself, in an attempt to try something new. She's just a local barista. Totally normal. Well, aside from the musical talent, people say.JOHN + MARY MARS: Rain’s parents. They fell in love young, and got married fast. While neither of their families were happy, they stayed close with John’s younger sister, Kay. On the evening ACE takes Rain away, they murder both John and Mary.JOHN MARS JR.: Rain’s older brother. He is three years older than Rain, and is the only survivor of the night that she was taken and his parents were killed. He ended up in the custody of his aunt, Kay, and grew up with her. When Rain comes back, he tries to help her the best that he can, and the two manage to form a sibling type bond despite everything. He was a college student studying music as the time of his death.KAY MARS: Rain’s aunt. She was around twenty years old when her brother and his wife were murdered, and her neice goes missing. She was very unprepared to take in John Jr., but end up very close to the young boy, and saw her as if he were her own son. Rain and her aunt have always had a rocky relationship, though, things were a little bit better leading up to John Jr.’s death. Kay ended up blaming Rain for what happened, and the two haven’t spoken since Rain left home.SNOWBALL: Rain's cat, with fluffy fur as white as snow.ACE LABRATORIES: The laboratory that took Rain when she was a young child. ACE was well known and has been for years, as a lab leading many biological research studies. They had plenty of government funding, as well as funding from private parties as well. The majority of ACE employees were entirely normal, nice people, who had no idea about what was going on in the basement of the building. Throughout the country, ACE has plenty of branches. All of them were shut down, during the ACE shutdown.THE ACE KIDS EXPERIMENT was funded by a private investor, and only select people within the lab were aware of it. They had been following families with apparent special “abilities” for years, and eventually, when some of them had children, they were taken for testing reasons. Some were bought. Others were taken by force. The idea was to develop a way to recreate these abilities, and to train these children to eventually be “super soldiers” of some sort. This never happened, as ACE was eventually shut down by law enforcement. While Rain and the kids were lead to believe that they were the only ones, there were actually many different versions of this experiment going on throughout the different branches of ACE.MOST ARE UNAWARE OF WHY ACE SHUT DOWN, and what was found in the police raid, as it was covered up by various people. Years later, though, theories began to pop up, and people began asking questions. No one has found anything yet, but there is a Netflix documentary in the works that may be getting close.

ARC ONE. Taking place during ARC ONE. She is a nameless young girl, who has known nothing other than ACE laboratories. She’s dangerous, and she likes that.ARC TWO. After she is dragged out of ACE labs and given the name Rain. She doesn’t believe it, doesn’t like it, and isn’t adjusting well to the new world she’s been thrown into. age 14-16ARC THREE. After having to move schools, Rain decides to maybe give normalcy a try. Things aren't perfect, but it's an actual life. She's never had one before. age 16-17.ARC FOUR. After the death of her brother, she decides to leave town and start a new life as someone else. She spends some time on the streets, before landing a job and getting a shitty apartment. Rain Mars, your local friendly barista. age 17-23.ARC FIVE. Current main verse. Rain's music career begins to take off. She still sticks to mostly local gigs, and tries not to become too big. She's afraid of what people might find if the look. Age 24-28.ARC SIX. News of what really happened at ACE Labs becomes public and a huge news story. Rain decides that, instead of dealing with any of it, she's going to hide. Age 28-35.ARC SEVEN. Rain goes on to become firefighter, leaving her past... somewhat behind her, for once. She lives in a big city, always takes the most dangerous calls, and just tries to blend in. Age 36-??

HUNTER AU. An alternate universe based upon the idea of supernatural hunters. Rain escaped from ACE at a young age (around 8) and was found by another family. They were supernatural hunters, and raised her the same. Upon turning 18, she left home, and started saving the monsters she was supposed to hunt.GHOST AU. An alternate universe based upon the idea of Rain as a ghost. In the housefire she started, Rain was the one that died. Her aunt and her brother moved, and new house was built, but Rain remained, unable to move on. She’s lonely, and switches between scaring people, and trying to befriend them.VAMPIRE AU.VIGILANTE AU. tba.

BALDUR'S GATE 3. Rain is a drider, cursed by Lolth after being seen as a traitor. She lives in the dark, until hearing of the Absolute, the Elder Brain, and the crown it has. Determined to prove to Lolth that she belongs among the Drow, she does whatever she can to get her hands on it and bring it back to her. More here.FEAR STREET 1994. Basically everything is the same as Rain’s biography, but when she moves after getting expelled, her family ends up in Shadyside. Is it any surprise that the Mars family fits into the cursed town?FEAR STREET 1978. Similar to Rain’s FS 1994 au, but she’s a camp counselor. Probably a bad idea, but she needs the money, and they need someone who can handle some of the more problematic kids. So she agrees.STRANGER THINGS. An alternate universe based on the show Stranger Things. Rain is freed from ACE much like main verse, and moves to Hawkins with her aunt right before the events of season 1. She has no idea, but the hawkins lab may have a connection to ACE.THE QUARRY. Another au where Rain is a camp counselor. She's new to the camp and the area, filling in last minute for a couple missing counselors. No one really knows her, but when shit hits the fan, they're glad to have her.WEDNESDAY. Rain is still a lab rat, and ACE is still shut down, but their closure and use of human experimentation is much more public. Because of that, and the positive PR they hope it will bring, Nevermore ends up taking in plenty of these experiments. One of these kids is Rain Mars. She even gets her own fireproof room. Oh boy.
